N°1 MANIFESTO
The earth’s ecosystems are being continuously exploited by capitalist and (neo)colonial logics, which are creating a multiplicity of fragile and often disastrous relationships. The Anthropocene — the earth age of man — has become a dominant concept for thinking with the times we are in.
Who and what are we taking into account when we think about the urban?
Is it still adequate to use such terms as ‘the city‘ in the context of urbanized environments, as we are no longer talking about spatial relations but also human and non-human actor relations, which extend beyond the boundaries of any city or country (see Lynn Margulis, Donna Haraway)?
What other terms and languages could we develop to adequately deal with these topics?
This series of talks, workshops and movie screenings seeks to grapple with the question of why and how we are all related.
We understand our series as a way of examining our cross-species relations, criticizing predominant modes of being and thinking about new ways of co-existing alongside other species beyond the human-centered perspective.
We want to complicate the dichotomies (urban - rural, built - unbuilt environment, human - non-human) brought up in the architectural and urban discourse by bringing together different fields of knowledge and practice from cross-disciplines (eco-feminist, performative, critical, political, geo-ecological perspectives), and reflect on how these can and should influence our practice.
